5 Quotes, Arnold Bennet, Author, BrainyQuote, England, Novelist, Wisdom Wednesday, Wisdome

Your own mind is a sacred enclosure into which nothing harmful can enter except by your permission.

Arnold Bennett

There can be no knowledge without emotion. We may be aware of a truth, yet until we have felt its force, it is not ours. To the cognition of the brain must be added the experience of the soul.

Arnold Bennett

We shall never have more time. We have, and always had, all the time there is. No object is served in waiting until next week or even until tomorrow. Keep going… Concentrate on something useful.

Arnold Bennett

Any change, even a change for the better, is always accompanied by drawbacks and discomforts.

Arnold Bennett

To the artist is sometimes granted a sudden, transient insight which serves in this matter for experience. A flash, and where previously the brain held a dead fact, the soul grasps a living truth! At moments we are all artists.

Arnold Bennett

Here is Arnold’s Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arnold_Bennett I hope you enjoy learning about him as much as I did.

Have a great Wednesday, folks!

Until next time…

5 Quotes, Actor, Arab Heritage Month, Jamie Farr, Klinger, M.A.S.H., wisdom, Wisdom Wednesday

The dresses I wore are in the Smithsonian now.

Jamie Farr

I would like to do a nice comedy/drama feature with a good part, but nobody’s asked me to do a film. Maybe it’s because they don’t know what to do with a guy in a dress.

Jamie Farr

Before ‘M*A*SH*,’ people in the industry didn’t know what to do with this guy with the big nose.

Jamie Farr

It’s amazing how people will treat you better when you’re ‘somebody.’ The minute clerks in a store recognize me, they suddenly rush to take care of me. That irritates me.

Jamie Farr

You can’t explain why people are friends and why those friendships last, but there certainly is magic in it. It’s just something that you treasure.

Jamie Farr

For those of you who are old enough, “Klinger” was a great character in the M.A.S.H. series. I used to watch this show with my dad when I was growing up. Here’s Jamie’s Wikipedia page, if you’d like to learn more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamie_Farr

I hope you are having a great Wednesday!

Until next time…

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

The time is always right to do what is right.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

I was reminded by one of my fellow bloggers that this was Black History Month. In honor of that, I would be remiss if I did not include Dr. King. If you’d like to learn more about Dr. King, here is his wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Luther_King_Jr.

For those of you who are not familiar with Black History Month, here is a link to their wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_History_Month

I hope all of you are having a great Wednesday! We are getting more snow. It is terrific!

Until next time…

Ambition, Experience, Happiness, Love, scholars, Soul, Thomas Merton, Wisdom Wednesday

Love is our true destiny. We do not find the meaning of life by ourselves alone – we find it with another.

Thomas Merton

The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not to twist them to fit our own image. Otherwise we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them.

Thomas Merton

When ambition ends, happiness begins.

Thomas Merton

We do not exist for ourselves alone, and it is only when we are fully convinced of this fact that we begin to love ourselves properly and thus also love others.

Thomas Merton

Every moment and every event of every man’s life on earth plants something in his soul.

Thomas Merton

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Merton

The above link will take you to Thomas Merton’s Wikipedia page. Wow, what a life! I encourage each of you to take a few minutes, and share a cup of coffee or tea with Thomas as you explore his life. It was truly an inspiring one. This is the first of my Wisdom Wednesday posts in 2022, and this was an awesome find. I continue to wish all of you health, prosperity, love, and high adventure in 2022.

Until next time…

A loving heart is the truest wisdom.

Charles Dickens

We forge the chains we wear in life.

Charles Dickens

No one is useless in this world who lightens the burden of it to anyone else.

Charles Dickens

I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.

Charles Dickens

Happy, happy Christmas, that can win us back to the delusions of our childhood days, recall to the old man the pleasures of his youth, and transport the traveler back to his own fireside and quiet home!

Charles Dickens

I wanted to touch on Dickens again, since he is so connected with the holiday season with many of his tales that celebrate Christmas. Here is his Wikipedia link for those that would like to know more about him and his life: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Dickens

I wish all of you a wonderful Christmas! I’m shutting Daily Ramblings down early, because we are starting our celebration of the holidays early. These last few weeks in December, I shut down everything to truly enjoy the holiday season, get some gifts out to extended family, and get in some final relax time before we begin getting busy in 2022. I’ll still check in to reply to comments and such, but will not be putting anymore postings up this year.

Today, I celebrate my wedding anniversary, on the 12th my wife’s birthday, and of course, the 25th for Christmas, and the 31st for New Year’s Eve. It has been a great year for me, and I hope all of you, despite all the craziness of COVID and all the repercussions of lockdowns in many of your home countries.

I sincerely wish each of you the very best during the holiday season. I wish you every happiness, every joy, and hope that you have some time to settle down and enjoy your families and friends as we close out 2021.

For those of you who are gamers in my readership, I’ll be playing Far Cry 6, Call of Duty Vanguard, Call of Duty Mobile, and Mafia City. My gamertag in all the Call of Duty games is ieatbullets63. If you find me, send me a quick note that you are one of my readers, and we’ll get in some “kills” together. The new Warzone is out today, featuring Caldera Island. I cannot wait to dig in!!

Happy Holidays! See you in 2022!!

Until next time…

There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.

Isaac Asimov

People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do.

Isaac Asimov

Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.

Isaac Asimov

Self-education is, I firmly believe, the only kind of education there is.

Isaac Asimov

It is change, continuing change, inevitable change, that is the dominant factor in society today. No sensible decision can be made any longer without taking into account not only the world as it is, but the world as it will be.

Isaac Asimov

For those of you who are interested, here’s a Wikipedia link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaac_Asimov He is one of America’s renowned Science Fiction Writers. Remember the movie “I, Robot.”?

Have a great Wednesday, folks.

There is no failure except in no longer trying. There is no defeat except from within, no really insurmountable barrier save our own inherent weakness of purpose.

Kin Hubbard

Men are not punished for their sins, but by them.

Kin Hubbard

It’s pretty hard to tell what does bring happiness; poverty and wealth have both failed.

Kin Hubbard

Don’t knock the weather; nine-tenths of the people couldn’t start a conversation if it didn’t change once in a while.

We would all like to vote for the best man but he is never a candidate.

First President, inauguration, JFK, John F. Kennedy, president, wisdom, Wisdom Wednesday

Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future.

John F. Kennedy

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.

John F. Kennedy

My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.

John F. Kennedy

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.

John F. Kennedy

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.
