Well, folks. Here we are. We are already past the middle of January 2023. How many of you have started tackling your New Year’s resolutions?

Many of us have the right intentions, but then when reality hits, we start to falter. My gym will be packed for the first few months of the year, and then it will fall back to normal traffic. Why? Because everyone is gung-ho at the first of the year. Then folks begin to lose interest.

Besides health goals, you may have others. Maybe you want to write a book, learn an instrument, or any number of things. Why do people fail to achieve their goals? Procrastination. Why do we procrastinate? Why do we put off something that is good for us? In this video, you’ll find out. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I wish all of you well in 2023! If you found some things in this video that rang true for you, use that as you push forward with your goals. Sometimes we can make it easier by starting small. I have found that doing small things each day build to big achievements. Take reading, for example. Each year, I read about 50 books on average. I do this by literally reading a chapter a day. That’s it. That’s my formula. Don’t get me wrong, I actually read much more than that, but the goal is one chapter a day. Of course, when I say one chapter, I read one chapter in typically four or five books simultaneously. So, four or five chapters. Still, this doesn’t take much more than an hour.

Exercise can be tackled the same way. Start small. Do 5 minutes of exercise. That’s it. Once you’ve established the habit, increase the time you exercise. I realize many experts suggest 20-30 minutes a day, but frankly, doing something is better than doing nothing. Do some pushups, walk, or even participate in a sport you enjoy, like golf, tennis, racquetball, basketball, you name it.

Well, that’s it for today, folks. I hope you have a great Tuesday!

Until next time…

For about 50% of the population, exercise is one of the New Year’s resolutions people commit to. Unfortunately, many start, but few achieve their goals. To add a little incentive, watch this video to see how exercise improves so many things without much effort. There is an entire cascade of events that occur within the body when we exercise consistently.

I hope you enjoyed the video and will start your own exercise routine. You don’t have to do much to gain the benefits of exercise. A little goes a long way, as long as you are consistent. Crushing yourself in the gym for a few days and then letting that new gym membership go to waste doesn’t produce the results you may be looking for. Consistency and continuous efforts are what win the day. Remember, your health goals are not a race–they are a marathon. Make them a daily habit, and you’ll feel better in a short amount of time.

Have a great Monday, folks! Get out there and get moving. Take it slow and easy, but consistently and you’ll see improvements in your immune system, your sleep, and even your ability to think.

Until next time…

For those of you who celebrate Labor Day, I hope you had a great long weekend.

My brother and nephew are still here hanging out. My nephew works remotely and is working tomorrow from here. My brother is still on vacation and we’ll either game, BS in our living room, or head down stairs to watch some shows.

I hope you enjoyed the video. I was curious, so I looked this up. Have a great Tuesday, folks.

I hope you enjoy this video. It’s an important topic to me, because both my wife and mother have it. It is tough for them to read, to write, and even communicate, because of the wiring of their brains. Enjoy!

It’s Tuesday, folks and I hope you have a great one.

Kentucky got hit with what has been called “once in a thousand year flood”. We are getting ready to experience our first triple-digit heat wave. Are these just anomalies or is this a trend? Check out this Ted Talk on Extreme Weather and you be the judge.

I hope you enjoyed this short video. These videos from TedEd are all terrific. I hope you enjoyed it and learned something.

Have a great Tuesday, friends.

I was prompted to look for steel pans on Ted Ed today, because of the video short Google put up on their browser today, celebrating Steelpan.

After watching this video, I thought about Teflon. Here’s what TedEd has to say about Teflon. I hope you enjoy it!

Here’s a Wikipedia article on Steelpan. I think you’ll enjoy it. Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steelpan

Have a great Tuesday, folks!

Daily Ramblings – Ted Talk Tuesday – Depression

I read a lot of blogs. One of the blogs I follow mentioned a new 988 number for anyone who is experiencing suicidal thoughts. This prompted today’s Ted Ed video on depression.

I’ve never experienced this kind of thing, but my wife had some major issues with this. Until we finally figured out that she was suffering from fibromyalgia, things got better. You see, when we know what we have, we can make adjustments to compensate for it. It’s the unknown that causes us problems.

Anyway, I hope you learn something. I always do when I watch these.

Have a great Wednesday, folks.

Until next time…
