Yoga has many benefits, including improved flexibility, relief from stress, and improved cardiovascular performance. If you’ve never tried this, you may want to give it a shot. Yoga, in its simplest form, is a great way to get some much-needed exercise, particularly now with the many intermittent lockdowns that will continue into the future, particularly now that we have begun to see mutations of the COVID virus appear in the States and elsewhere. You can find a truckload of Yoga tutorials on YouTube and other video streaming sites (Rumble, Vimeo, etc.). Give it a shot. It’s a great way to add some variety to your home workouts.

Namaste!

Until next time…

This last week was a terrific success. This week we’ll introduce nutrition as part of my exercise routine.

Workouts:

**30 minutes Gym (minimum) – 15 minutes Cardio (Elliptical) – 15 Minutes Weight Training (15 sets) on days when I’m feeling good, I may go beyond these limits, but these are the bare minimums.**

  • Sunday – Back
  • Monday – Chest
  • Tuesday – Abs and Obliques
  • Wednesday – Shoulders
  • Thursday – Biceps
  • Friday – Triceps
  • Saturday – Legs

Nutrition:

This week we’ll upgrade our nutrition by going pure vegan for my lunch meal (fruits, vegetables, and a protein (beans, chickpeas, lentils, or nuts and seeds). I like to eat out for lunch, so getting a salad without meat will be easy.

Meditation:

Headspace daily for at least 10 minutes

See you at the finish line!

Contemplation, HU App, HU Chant, Lao Tzu, Meditation, Relaxation, Stress Relief

At the center of your being you have the answer; you know who you are and you know what you want. - Lao Tzu

Life can be stressful. We deal with traffic jams, stress at work, and the stress of being exposed to constant and uninterrupted noise. How can one escape it?

Some folks meditate. I contemplate. The key difference is that meditation waits, and contemplation is active. Regardless of the technique you use, take as little as 10 minutes a day and just be quiet. Close your eyes, relax, concentrate on your breath, scan your body, visualize a serene vista in your mind, or chant a word out loud or silently repeatedly.

One of the words I use to chant is HU. HU is an ancient name for God. Simply sit in a chair or lay down on a bed or couch. Place your attention on your third eye. This eye is about 2 inches in from the point between your eyebrows. Chant HU 3 or 4 times and then sit or lay quietly and listen and watch. It is also nice to think of something that creates a feeling of love within. Think of a pet, a parent, a sibling, friend, or significant other. Start your practice for as little as 5 minutes a day and work yourself up to 20-30 minutes.

There is a HU app in the iTunes library and Google Play. You can find the app for free in both. Simply use the keyword “HU” in either library and you’ll find it.

Meditation and Contemplation are excellent ways to relax, develop your ability to focus, and relieve stress. This is part of my day, every day. I cannot recommend this enough.

I hope your week is going well!

Until next time…

Dave
