Here’s an interesting tidbit for your Friday. Bothie is the only dog to walk on the North and South Pole. I thought this was really wild! I’ve placed the link to the Wikipedia article to read more about him. It’s a short read, but a nice trivial trek.
I really love history. I was rummaging around YouTube, and I found this great documentary on Napoleon Bonaparte. Here’s the link for your viewing pleasure:
Since I talk about Crash Course World History, here’s their YouTube channel with all 40 episodes:
Well, that’s it for now, folks. I hope you all have a great Friday.
For most this word means nothing, but it is an ideal way of living. When one achieves Ikigai, they are doing what they love, serving others, making money, and they are good at this thing they’ve chosen. Here’s a video to explain Ikigai. If you are in a job that you hate, you may want to try looking for something that aligns with Ikigai, it could make a huge difference in your life.
I like introducing topics that you may not be aware of. It’s fun looking for them, and it is also fun to learn about them. I hope you enjoyed the video and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
All, it was a great December! I had a great time during the holidays, got in plenty of gaming, spent time with friends and family, and just enjoyed the hell out of my month off.
For those of you who recently followed me, each year I take December off. I started this last year, and I will continue this going forward. It’s so nice to just not have to do anything. It is a great way to start your new year, because after a month of doing what you want, you are really anxious to get back at it.
I missed all of you. I got caught up on my comments just now, so if you wondered what the heck I was doing, that’s what I was doing. Nothing, but what I wanted to.
I wish all of you a terrific 2023! I have so many things to do this year. It’s going to be great!
Well, I’ll keep this short, because I have a lot to get done today. Here’s to 2023!
I wish all of you great success, happiness, good health, and the time to do the things you enjoy.
All, I’m foregoing the funny videos again this week, just to take time out and say thanks for following my blog and putting up some wonderful content on yours. The photos, the stories, and all the rest are just so terrific!
I hope all of you have a terrific weekend. I know I will. I’ve got a lot of gaming lined up, and there is a new episode of House of the Dragon and The Rings of Power. I can’t wait!!!
If you’ve read my blog for any length of time, you know I have a “do nothing day” each week on Sunday. I also take Holidays and do the same thing from time-to-time. Why? It’s nice to have a single rebellious day where I delete my daily schedule, check off all of to-do items without doing them, and just do whatever the heck I want to. It’s a nice break. It is also a great way to allow a little freedom into what would normally be a very tedious schedule.
So, for those of you who celebrate Labor Day today. Take the day off. Put your projects to the side, turn off your calendar reminders, and just do whatever the heck you want to. Enjoy the day. Be spontaneous. Anything that is away from your daily routine to allow yourself some downtime and satisfy the rebel in you.
My brother and his gal took off yesterday afternoon from the airport. What a great time we had while he was here. They hung out with my sister for a few days, went to the beach, went out to some of our favorite haunts here (Ted’s Coney Island, Raven Coffee House, Freighters). They also got to watch some shows. They are huge fans of Locke and Key on Netflix. I have not watched it yet, but have it tagged on my watch list.
Tomorrow I’ll get back to my normal writing schedule. It was a nice week off!
If you’ve never watched the Fail Army channel on YouTube, you’re in for a treat. Wow. Some of these are insane!!
Have a great Friday, folks. I’ll see you on Monday. I’m still putting together my ideas for my new gaming post on the weekend. Keep an eye out for these in the upcoming week(s).
For those of my readers who live in the United States, Happy 4th! I hope you have a great time with friends and family. My wife went windsurfing in Arizona, my sister is out with her friend on her boat, and the folks and I are enjoying the air conditioning. Today, is another do nothing day for me, other than my blogging, and some other critical items.
Why should we take a vacation? Why should we take a day off? Because, regardless of how in shape we are, focused we are, or disciplined we are, we need time off. We need to do something we enjoy. We need to rest. We need some time when we are engaged with what we enjoy doing, without guilt. We also need something to compare our work days with.
The mind can only identify with opposites. Sleep and awake, dark and light, loud and quiet. The same thing occurs when we consider work and play. Without work or a purpose in your life, your leisure time would not be as special. The same goes for leisure time. If you don’t relax and take your mind off of the pressures at work, you won’t be as productive. Work and leisure go hand-in-hand. They need one another.
This is the first two days in a row I’ve relaxed and tossed my schedule in the basket this year. I need to do this more often. When I take a few days off now and then, I’m raring to get back to my book writing, my non-profit position, and all the other things I focus on during my “work” days.
This leads me right back to hobbies. You need one or more of them. Hobbies give you something to look forward to. A good social network is also necessary, so you can share your time with friends. It’s really nice to meet a friend for lunch on the weekend or sit down and chat over a cup of coffee. Then there’s the night life. I’m not a drinker, but for those of you who do, go out to the clubs, dance, meet new people, enjoy yourself.
If you work hard, the leisure time feels terrific. If you do your leisure right, you’ll be anxious to get back to work after a holiday or a few days off.
Well, that’s it for today, folks. I almost blew this off, but got the nudge to put this up so you could see the importance of time off and how it can actually give you the motivation to go back to work when your weekend, holiday, or vacation is over with.
