Achievement, Categories, Consistency, Goals, Plans, processes, rituals

Hopefully, you’ve put together your goals for the year and have plans, processes, and rituals in place to guarantee your success. What if you haven’t done that yet? No worries. Start simple, if this is all new to you.

I like to pick goals within categories like physical, mental, spiritual, and social.

Physical – lose 10 pounds by year’s end

Mental – read 12 books by year’s end

Spiritual – meditate once a day for 10 minutes

Social – post uplifting quotes and materials to social media 1 x weekly

These are just examples, but easy to do. One thing I’ve learned about consistent small actions every day is that they build into big things. When I started this process for myself a few years ago, I could have never predicted I would read 60 books in a year. This is what happens when you read a little each day. Now 60 books is no issue. This works for anything you aspire to. Pick some goal, and chop away at it a little bit each day. You’ll be there in no time.

Now get at it! The year’s young. Get your goals in place, put together the daily things you need to do to hit your milestones, and get at it. It’s not too late to set yourself up for success in 2021.

Until next time…

Dave

Achievement, Attack!, Get at it, Goals, Grind it out, motivation, Plans, Push, Strive, Succeed

I hope you enjoy this video. I like to watch these on Monday morning or Sunday evening to get me pumped for the weekend. You can do this with motivational videos like this one on YouTube, a quote, or a great song! Whatever works for you, you should use. We all need a pump up now and then and I use videos, quotes, anything I can find that gives me an edge to the beginning of the week.

Here’s my schedule for the week:

  • Read daily (currently at 61 books for the year) (Mental)
  • Learn something new daily (taking 5 courses across many platforms) (Mental)
  • Write daily (on track to finish a rough draft of my recruiting book by end-of-year, daily journaling) (mental, spiritual)
  • Exercise daily (see workout routine) (physical)
  • Meditate Daily (I am using Headspace) (spiritual)
  • Blog Daily (social)
  • Code daily (48% through the Computer Science Path on Codecademy) (mental)
  • Track my success daily (EVO planner, MyFitnessPal, Apple Health on my Apple Watch, Toodledo) (mental, physical, social, spiritual)
  • Share articles on social media, here, and help my wife with her teaching credential prep (Social)

Get out there and crush it this week!

Until next time…

Today’s Quote

“Plans are nothing, planning is everything.” – Dwight D. Eisenhower

As a retired veteran, I can tell you this is absolutely true. I think the reason Eisenhower said this is that in the military, like many other organizations, plans rarely survive reality. They are a template for our actions and future moves but are just that—a template.

When we begin pushing through that plan, people will change, the weather will change, circumstances will change, and opportunities will arrive. None of these things can be foreseen; they just happen. The key to completing any plan is to adapt to changes, modify the plan as needed, and continue moving forward until the mission, project, or goal is completed. We have to plan to really iron out our thoughts and vision, but the execution always requires the ability to improvise when things don’t occur the way we planned them to.

Until next time…

Dave
