I’m a little wiped today, as I ground the last few days on CODM to attain Legendary status in ranked play. I got it last night, after a week worth of heavy game play. Grinding by the way, is a term in gaming for playing and playing and playing until you reach a goal. I grind to get diamond camo and I grind to get Legendary. I still have 3 days to get Legendary again in Battle Royale and knock out the season’s last challenge.

The reason I ended up grinding the last few days to get Legendary status in CODM is because I did not plan out the season well. I only had 6 days left in the season when I started, and now I’m down to two days to finish out the Battle Royale. So, what’s the lesson. It would be much easier moving through a single rank area in the progression than trying to do multiple levels in a short period of time.

It’s easier to get in shape if you work out each day. It’s easier reading 50+ books a year if you read a little each day. It’s easier to write a book if you write a little each day. This little consistent actions each day will be bring Big results. Subsequently, when season 6 starts in 2 days, it’ll be working on both Battle Royal and Ranked Multiplayer each day to attain Legendary status in both within the first few weeks. This will be much less stressful, and a heck of a lot more enjoyable. I do not want to do this again.

So, if there’s a goal you have, like reading so many books, posting so many blog posts, or working on a book, do a little each day. These little actions build momentum, build habits, and make attaining big results easy–almost subconsciously. Once you learn this anything is within reach.

Well, that’s it for today.

Have a great Monday, folks!

Until next time…

Daily Ramblings – Motivation Monday – Mother’s Day

challenging tasks, drudgery, easy tasks, Excitement, momentum, Monday, motivation, New book, Stephen Guise

I hope all of my readers who are Mothers had a great Mother’s Day. We are pretty low-key here, but Mom got to do all she likes to do and my sister made dinner. It was a nice day.

So, here we are! It’s Monday. What do you have planned this week? Anything exciting? Anything you dread doing?

I’ve found during retirement that doing the exciting things first is a good way of building momentum. Then you can use that momentum to take on the more difficult tasks that you do not like to do, but must. Must tasks fall into employer, health, and other important categories. We don’t like doing them, but we must. Speaking of momentum, Stephen Guise just came out with a new book he wrote discussing momentum. I’ll be getting that and reading it. Here’s the link if any of you are interested: https://smile.amazon.com/Magic-Momentum-Winning-Streaks-Trajectory-ebook/dp/B09XL9VQ2C/ref=sr_1_8?crid=6HUYOXUBACEA&keywords=momentum&qid=1652071880&rnid=2941120011&s=books&sprefix=momentum%2Caps%2C931&sr=1-8

The book is $6 on Amazon for the e-book version and $15 if you still read paperbacks. There’s also an audible version for those of you who like to listen to books in your car or other device. I’m not an affiliate, but highly recommend any of Stephen’s work. It is terrific.

Well, folks, that’s it for today. I hope you all have a great Monday!

Until next time…

So you have goals and a plan. What do you do now? Execute.

Get your action steps on your calendar and to-do list, and start knocking things off. Easy right? Nope.

This is the time procrastination raises its ugly head. This is the time we execute the things that have nothing to do with our goals and priorities. Why do we do this to ourselves? Fear of failure, perfectionism, and perhaps a little doubt sprinkled in (Is this the best use of my time?).

This is the time to do what Nike suggests in their logo–Just Do It. You’ve decided it was a worthy goal. You’ve put together a plan to achieve the goal. Just start knocking out the stuff on your list. Get it done.

If you still hesitate, take the action steps you have already and break them down further. Whittle these things down until you no longer resist them. Whenever we hesitate to do something we have in our plan, it is either too big, or we lack the skills to execute the steps. It’s ok to discover this when you begin executing because you likely have never done this before. It’s ok.

When you revise your plan so that it is easier to execute, you’ll find getting started easier. You’ll also build a momentum to your work. You’ll start building confidence in yourself. You’ll begin to think that you worried over nothing and your action plan will work.

Perfectionism? Don’t let this hold you back. Just do the best you can. Execute your plan and take care of the details later. It feels good to make progress. Take advantage of that and keep moving forward. You decide when you’ve gotten a project completed. You. Don’t let perfectionism slow you down. Done is better than perfect. What is perfect anyway? Do you know?

Your doubt about your ability to do something will fade as you begin getting your tasks done. You will start to see how execution helps you move forward and your confidence will build as you move through task by task. Keep going. Use that forward momentum to keep moving. Once I start moving forward, it is hard to stop. The momentum is easier to keep going, once you are going.

Well, folks. That’s all I have for today. Have a great Monday.

Until next time…

Dave
