Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a national holiday in the United States. For those of you who are readers and from outside the U.S., here is a Wikipedia link where you can read about him: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Luther_King_Jr.
I always include a video of his iconic “I have a dream” speech. Enjoy!
I hope all of you enjoy your day today. It is a great day to remember how far we have come as a nation, but also recognize we have a long way to go. I do not think we will ever overcome prejudice entirely, but I do believe we can continue to improve. A work in progress, so to speak.
I found this video on YouTube liked it. I always try to pick short videos to respect your time. There were others that were an hour + if viewing. I like watching videos like this and so many others, depicting the first Thanksgiving. Obviously, there are a lot of perspectives on Thanksgiving nowadays.
I choose the perspective of giving thanks for what we have. Cherishing what we have is a terrific way to look at our lives. Think about the access to information, music, entertainment, and so many other things. In most cases these are free or inexpensively priced. I’m grateful for my health, my family, and for all the good in my life.
I am grateful for the ability to make friends with people all over the world. I have a friend who is an author in Australia. I have a blogger friend in South Carolina and another in Colorado. I met all of these people online and they are just terrific people that add value to my life, by exposing me to their stories, their point of view, and their talent.
So, as we get closer to Thanksgiving, take a few moments and count your blessings. Thanksgiving doesn’t have to be about what is described in the above video. It simply is a time to take account of what you have in your life that is good. When you concentrate on these things, you naturally feel better.
Well, that’s it for today, folks.
Here’s a shameless plug for Call of Duty MW2. The new Warzone 2 will be coming out tomorrow and it looks absolutely sick. Water mechanics are in, new vehicles, a huge map, and all kinds of new game play, including DMZ, which should be really cool to play. They’ve also added proximity chat, so that means you can communicate with opposing teams and even join them! HUGE!!
Hello all! I don’t post on weekends, but wanted to wish you a Happy Easter. For some of you, your company or institution may be observing Easter Monday, to give you some more time off with your family and friends. I hope you had a great Easter Sunday!!
Today is the day we celebrate the independence day of the United States. It’s a day for fireworks, barbeque, and family. This year is a little different because everything is closed, but the feelings are the same. It’s a great day to celebrate America!
For those of you who live in the States, Happy 4th!
I hope each of you has a great day of good food, family and friends.
Here’s a shot of my Dad (left), Mom, Sister, and her boyfriend. In the picture on the right is yours truly on the far left. We had turkey, mashed potatoes, creamed sweet peas, stuffing, and mom’s homemade cranberry sauce, which goes really well with breast meat.
Later we’ll dive into pumpkin pie.
For those of you that celebrate, I wish you and yours a great Thanksgiving!
Well, it’s a day early, but I wanted to take the time to express my thanks for all of my readers. We have family coming up later today, and I won’t be posting until after the holiday.
For those of you outside the U.S., we celebrate Thanksgiving by giving thanks for all the blessings in our lives, like family, good fortune, and good health. Thanksgiving was a tradition brought to the United States by Europeans (Pilgrims and Puritans) and was declared a national holiday by President Lincoln in 1863 or thereabouts.
Although we call it Thanksgiving, there are many such holidays in most countries around the world. Each one celebrates the bounty of life and cherish one another.
So with that, I bid you a Happy Thanksgiving. Oh! And for those of you who are getting out there bright and early on Black Friday to take advantage of all the sales out there. Be safe. Thing tend to get crazy. I, for one, will take part in Cyber Monday. It’s much more safe and I get to sleep in.
Considering all of our family’s Mother’s Day Plans, I’m taking the day off from the gym today to celebrate with the family and enjoy Mom’s day. I hope all of you Mothers out there are getting spoiled royally today!
Today is Easter! For those of you who celebrate, I wish you a terrific Easter Sunday! I love holidays because it’s the one time during the year we can celebrate together with family and friends. My sister is visiting and Dad and I are having a great time with her. My Mom is in Minneapolis this weekend for ECKANKAR’s Springtime Seminar. She enjoys going to the major seminars to reconnect with friends she has made on Facebook and to pitch in on discussion round tables that are held at these events.
I wish all of you a terrific day wherever you are in the world. If you have any Easter memories to share, please do so in the comments below.
