I promised to take a week off each quarter and have failed miserably, so this week, I’m doing it! I’ll be reading and doing some of my tasks daily, but most are going on stand by. The first reason is I’m a little burned out by the hectic schedule I’ve been keeping to stay occupied–the other, I hurt my back late last week and just want to take it easy and relax until this thing sorts itself out.

So this week, as part of my vacation, I’ll be catching up on some Netflix, Amazon, and read more than I normally do. I’m still on the hook for 60 books and have finished 43-44 of them, but want to hit this one early this year, so I can enjoy the holidays and potentially take the entire month of December off, to really enjoy the holiday season, my favorite time of the year.

I’ll keep up my blogging too. I enjoy interacting with you, and like posting my little things each day, since some of you like certain content days, some of you like other days.

Well, here we are. Yet another Monday to tackle. Since retirement, the days have taken on a different meaning. Each of my days is roughly the same, unless I decide to pursue something new and unique. I enjoy consistency, but also like to add in some variety now and then.

The three things I missed the most during the lockdown are my libraries, coffee shops, and gyms. Libraries are still closed, and coffee shops are still pretty locked down, so I only have the gym. Getting out on the road, interacting with people at the gym and Starbucks is really nice. You never know who you’re going to meet or what will happen.

I’m really glad my gyms are opening back up. I missed going to them. My routine won’t be any less intense than my home workouts, but it’s the feeling you have when you’re on a machine or bench pounding away. That makes all the difference. I also miss the chance meetings with people, asking about how to use a machine or asking if they can work into my sets.

Now that the gyms are open, I’ll begin going again tomorrow. My schedule is in place, and I’m ready to get back at it.

Well, folks, we’re in the last week of August 2020. How is your year turning out? I realize this question may seem a bit sarcastic, but what I want to know is how are you doing with achieving your goals. I know some of them had to be put on hold or cancelled. A bunch of my goals were put on hold because the library, coffee shops, and other places I wanted to go for writing sites are still closed. The rest of my goals are on track. 

As we approach the end of the third quarter (end of September), continue to make adjustments to your plans for the goals you have. You can still achieve them, but if you’re a little behind, you’re going to have to kick into high gear to get over the finish line.

I hope everyone’s weekend was outstanding! I got my work done and took some time to watch a few Marvel movies. I re-watched Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and Iron Man 3. These are all great stories, and the special effects are over the top. I also got in some entertainment reading. I’m reading K.M. Allan’s second book in her Blackbirch series, which is really entertaining. I don’t read a lot of fiction, because non-fiction is more up my alley, but the Blackbirch series is awesome.
