For those of you who enjoy Science Fiction, this is a book you’ll want to read. I found it on Scribd, but it’s also available on Amazon in the Kindle version and in paperback. Wow! What a story.

If you enjoy Science Fiction, particularly outer space stories, you’ll enjoy this one–promise.

The Success Principles: How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be

I’ve been a fan of Jack Canfield since I read my first Chicken Soup for the Soul book. This book was a terrific read and provides some great ideas on things we can do to improve our lives. I really enjoyed this one and highly recommend it to you, my readers. You can find it on Amazon, iBooks, Google Books, and Barnes & Noble.

Until next time…

Well, folks, my friend’s book was outstanding! I won’t give anything away about the story here. It is a terrific story and one that will keep you engaged throughout. I really tried to keep myself to one chapter a day to savor this one, but just couldn’t do it, once the story took off. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys the fantasy genre. Here’s the link to the book on Goodreads: Blackbirch: The Beginning

Bravo! Kate.

Elastic Habits by Stephen Guise

I just finished this book, and it’s awesome. Stephen takes habit formation to the next level in this book and I am excited to put his strategies to work. Luckily, I’ve already begun this process. Stephen’s book confirmed I was on the right track.

I can’t recommend this book enough. Get it. It’s only 7.99 on Amazon (Kindle version only). It is also a really easy read. I finished it in a day.

Until next time…

Vietnam: A View from the Front Lines (General Military)Vietnam: A View from the Front Lines by Andrew Wiest

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoy Mr. West’s work. This book is written much like the documentaries that are produced by Ken Burns, focusing on the man in the trenches, rather than the strategic view of conflict that is typical of most historical books. Some of this book is really heart wrenching, particularly when the wives of men who died are writing about their lives after they lost a husband. I can’t imagine how horrific that was. I highly recommend this book to anyone studying the Vietnam War.

Nixon's Secrets: How the Former President Blackmailed the GovernmentNixon’s Secrets: How the Former President Blackmailed the Government by Roger Stone

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book I’ve read by Roger Stone and I really enjoyed it. I have been doing some research on some big events that occurred early in my life, namely between the early 60s and 70s. Watergate was a huge event. This book filled in the gaps. I really enjoyed your book, Roger. Thanks for the painstaking detail in this terrific read!

Daily Rambling – Book Review Wednesday – Uncle Tom’s Cabin

Civil War, Harriet Beecher Stowe, History, Slavery, Uncle Tom's Cabin

Here’s another book I just started reading. I was prompted to reading this book because I have become very interested in the topics of slavery, the Civil War, and other topics of this nature. I learned that this book provides a really detailed look at life as a slave and was very interested in learning about this.

I’ll keep you updated on how the book turns out. I also discovered what is called the Amazon Classics collection. All of the classics are available in Kindle format for free. I am going to tackle reading and re-reading all of them.

I hope your week is going well.

Until next time…

Andersonville: A Story of Rebel Military Prisons by John McElroy

This the first book review of Daily Ramblings! I wanted to add this type of content into my weekly regimen because I do read a lot of books and thought it would be nice to pass this along to my readership. Today’s book review is a book I just started.

This book is about one person’s experiences in a Military Prison ran by the Confederacy during the Civil War. I was prompted to read this book after watching Ken Burn’s documentary on the Civil War. If you’re interested, you can find it on Netflix. This book is also free and can be found on Amazon in the Kindle section. I tend to read a lot on the Kindle because it’s easier on the eyes.

So far, the book is describing the soldier’s experiences with the Union Army and has not been captured. The book is written in the language of the 1800’s but is put together quite well and reads very easily. If you are a war buff like I am, the reading is fascinating.

I did not know about Andersonville until seeing the Civil War by Ken Burns. This prison camp is also mentioned in the Netflix Series (AMC) Hell on Wheels. I won’t drop any spoilers here, but the series is also worth a watch. I’m in the second season out of 5 seasons available currently.

Well, I’m not that far along in the book, but will use Thursday to discuss any books I’m reading. I hope this provides a little variety and perhaps points you in a direction of reading that you’ll enjoy.

Until next time…

Dave
