About

I retired from the U.S. Army after a successful 20-year career. I retired a second time from technical recruiting to help my Mom and Dad in Michigan. My Dad is suffering from Dementia and Mom needed some help around the house.

I am an aspiring writer, using this blog, my journaling, and my book writing to develop my craft. I enjoy the freedom of blogging and journaling, but need to write books to tell my story, teach others, and leave a legacy for others to enjoy.

I have a book in the works about technical recruiting. I will use this venue to announce when it is ready for public consumption. I also plan on writing fiction stories and can’t wait. For now, it’s non-fiction, because it is writing I am more comfortable with.

    Hi Dave. It’s so nice to get to know you. My dad was in the Marine Corps for 20 years. I’ve started writing a novel based on him and my mom. It’s going slow, but I believe I’m about to pick up the pace. Dad told me a lot of stories about his childhood and serving in Korea and Vietnam (which gave him nightmares) but there’s still a lot of research I’ll need to do down the road when I get to that part. If you have any recommendations on books to read, feel free to let me know. Take care!

      Thank you! Wow, thank your Dad for his service, if he’s still around (I didn’t want to assume). Books I’d recommend on those two wars. Here you go. I read these last year: This Kind of War: The Classic Military History of the Korean War (T.R. Fehrenbach) and Vietnam: A View from the Front Lines (Andrew West). I liked both of these. ~Dave
