If you’ve never seen Mr. Bean, you’ll enjoy this. It is typical British humor. I hope you find it as funny as I do. These episodes are about an hour+ long, so if it’s too much, just watch a few minutes. I’m confident this will entertain most of you.

Well, that’s it for today. Have a great Friday!!

Until next time…

Daily Ramblings – Reading, Watching, and Learning

Boris Karloff, Canva, Dracula, Halloween, Lon Chaney, October, The Exorcist, The Mummy, The Werewolf

I’m closing in on the end of Deep Time. They are still in a huge battle that has ran for three chapters with a species titled the Glothr. They are an alien species that existed under the ice in a frozen “ocean” on a planet called Invictus. After I’ve finished this one, I may take a break, because one of my author friends has just released book 3 of her series of books that I want to read.

As we are slowly approaching the month of Halloween, I tend to watch a lot of scary movies in October. So, I’ll be watching some Freddy Krueger, Friday the 13th, Halloween, The Exorcist, and a few other of my favorite scary movies. I’ll also look around for some black and white movies I liked when I was a kid like The Mummy, Frankenstein, and The Werewolf. These featured two of my favorites: Boris Karloff and Lon Cheney.

I’m still plugging through my MS Excel course. We are learning about the VBA editor, which is really cool. I didn’t realize how powerful this is until I started this course. Anyway, that’s what I’ll be working on until I’m done with it. Then, I think I’ll move onto a Canva course that has been waiting for my attention.

While I’m talking about this, if you are ever interested in using Udemy for your online learning, set up an account (for free) so you can get emails that announce their sales. I bought six courses for under 50 bucks. It is a real bargain, when you think about how much you’ll get out of them. Once you purchase these courses, they are yours for life. This is different from other online learning platforms that offer courses that run like a college course, when you pay for one of these courses, they are really expensive and you only have access to them while the course is running, which is usually between 8 and 10 weeks.

Well, that’s all for now, folks. Have a great Thursday!

Until next time…

Daily Ramblings – Wisdom Wednesday – Edgar Allan Poe

I would define, in brief, the poetry of words as the rhythmical creation of Beauty.

Edgar Allan Poe

All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.

Edgar Allan Poe

Beauty of whatever kind, in its supreme development, invariably excites the sensitive soul to tears.

Edgar Allan Poe

Words have no power to impress the mind without the exquisite horror of their reality.

Edgar Allan Poe

The boundaries which divide Life from Death are at best shadowy and vague. Who shall say where the one ends, and where the other begins?

Edgar Allan Poe

Well, October is right around the corner and the beginning of my favorite time of year. October is my birthday month, Halloween celebrations will commence, and I get to spend a week watching all the scary movies I enjoyed as a child. Then there are the trick-or-treaters, and the seasonal coffees at all of the local coffee shops. Yay!!!

I figured Poe would be a great pick to get us ready for the upcoming month of spooks, goblins, ghosts, wraiths, and all those things that go bump in the night. Here is his Wikipedia link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edgar_Allan_Poe

Have a great Wednesday, folks!

Until next time…

With Hurricanes hitting the Caribbean and Florida, I thought this short little video would be appropriate. See how the Oak tree can survive a hurricane and how Oak trees are inspiring designers and architects to design homes that are more resilient to hurricane and other extreme weather events.

Have a great Tuesday!

You know in all the motivation postings I’ve put up, I fail to mention people. So this one is dedicated to all the people that motivated me throughout my life.

We all have them. We have families. We have friends. We have husbands and wives, besties, and even colleagues at work or in our particular profession.

Two of my biggest motivators are David Allen and Stephen Covey. David Allen wrote the book Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress Free Productivity. Stephen Covey wrote the book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. They are both terrific books that I refer to all the time.

My wife is also a motivator. I want to do well for her. When I was working, I was motivated by my fellow soldiers or colleagues at work. I wanted to do my part on the team.

Who has been your motivator? Any books, any songs, any poetry, or artists that get you going? What about your family and friends. Is there anyone you can think of that really drives you to do what you do?

If you’re like me, you have had plenty of people who have added value to your life, simply because they motivated you to do something you didn’t think you could do, or they showed you something that made a huge difference in your life. For me, Allen and Covey were those people. I didn’t know them, other than from reading their books, but boy, they impacted how I do things today.

Well, that’s all I got for now! Have a great Monday, all!

Until next time…

Daily Ramblings – Gaming Saturday – CODM, Diablo Immortal, PUBG, Apex Legends

Happy Saturday, folks! Tonight is the night I usually pull an all-nighter gaming and knocking out my daily tasks. I’ll probably hit the sack around 3 or 4 am. Anyway, this week’s games are CODM, Diablo Immortal, PUBG, and Apex Legends.

My ranking so far. I’m Legendary in both Multiplayer and Battle Royale on CODM. I’m Gold ranked on PUBG and Apex Legends, and I’m approaching level 200 on Diablo. I really enjoy playing ranked, because it adds more intensity to the game. If you play ranked, you gain points if you do well, and you lose them if you don’t do so well. It gets harder as you progress, because the level of play gets very “sweaty” the higher you go. Diablo is the only game where there isn’t ranked play, but I’ve always been a huge D&D fan and it has a flavor of playing D&D, with wizards, knights, and all the rest.

So this week, I’d like to cover the folks I follow, who stream their games.

CODM – StoneMountain64. He is on Facebook. If you hit the gaming tab on Facebook, look for his name. He’s pretty easy to find. He has millions of followers.

Apex Legends – Nickmercs. You can follow his streams on Twitch.

Gaming in General – Dr Disrespect. You can find him on YouTube.

I haven’t really watched any PUBG or Diablo streamers, but I know they are out there.

Also, if you are watching it, the final stage for the CODM world championship has been slated for December 2022. It will be in North Carolina where all the gamers meet and compete. It’ll be a great watch. I know they will be streaming live on YouTube.

Well, that’s it for this week. If there’s anything you’d like to discuss or have any questions about getting started with any of these games, hit me up in the comments. I’ll be happy to help you out and give you some pointers.

Happy Gaming!

Daily Ramblings – Reading, Watching, Learning: Deep Time, Crash Course World History, Excel VBA

Crash Course, Curiosity Stream, Deep Time, Kyle Pew, MS Excel, VB Editor, VBA, Visual Basic

Ok folks! It’s Thursday and I am still reading Deep Time. I am getting close to finishing it, and the story is terrific. I don’t want to spoil anything, but the aliens in this part of the series can warp time. Initially, this thwarted the America and its fighting force, because the aliens could slow the weapons down so that they could easily fly by it without anything hitting them.

I’m watching Crash Course World History on Curiosity Stream. For those of you who are interested in a “Netflix for documentaries” covering nature, outer space, physics, history, and all the rest, you can find it in the Google Play store and the App Store for Apple. It runs 19.99 a year. Netflix runs $19 dollars US a month, if you are price shopping. It is a terrific value if you like documentaries. Anyway, Crash Course is a short 10-minute video that encompasses a period of history. I’ve watched the Babylonians, Egyptians, Chinese Dynasties, and going to continue this until I’m finished. It’s just a terrific and entertaining series.

Part of my MS Excel course on Udemy covers Excel Macros and VBA. Now I am in the VBA portion of the course. Today, I learned how to set up the VB editor and learned how to write some simple code in the immediate window.

That’s my update for the week, folks. Have a great Thursday! OH! By the way, I just hit my annual goal of 1,300 readers. Thanks so much for following my blog!!

Until next time…

People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing.

Dale Carnegie

Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.

Dale Carnegie

Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.

Dale Carnegie

Our fatigue is often caused not by work, but by worry, frustration and resentment.

Dale Carnegie

Success is getting what you want. Happiness is wanting what you get.

Dale Carnegie

Have a great Wednesday, folks!
