Well, folks, my sister and I finally finished Breaking Bad. It was a great ending. They did a great job tying up all the loose ends in the plot. After completing Breaking Bad, we had to watch El Camino, so we could close the book on Jesse Pinkman. After finishing up with these two, we moved onto Viking Valhalla. It is only one season, but it looked interesting and it was. We only watched one episode. Tonight we’ll watch some more.

The book I’m reading is part of The Destroyer series. It’s called Last Call. I won’t give any spoilers, in case you want to check this series out. All very entertaining books and each story is unique and full of twists, action, and even has some funny parts.

Season 3 of Call of Duty Mobile started and so is the World Championship. I just played through my first 10 games to try out for the Championship, but fell 4 points shy of qualifying. Wish me luck! I’ve got three more weekends to try and hit 60 points to qualify for stage 2! Anyway, new weapons, new characters, and new challenges await. I love this game!!

I’m still working on Diamond Camouflage for the Nunchucks, XPR-50 Sniper Rifle, Cordite Submachine Gun, SMRS Launcher, M4 Light Machine Gun, Type 25 Assault Rifle, Echo Shotgun, and SP-R 208 Tactical Rifle. It’s great fun. There is a new Battle Royal Challenge as CODM has relaunched Alcatraz this season. Then there is Zombies!! I’ll get a little more consistent with Zombies this season!

I hope all of you are having a terrific Thursday. For some reason when I woke up today, I thought it was Friday. Get ready for tomorrow. It’s April Fools Day.

Until next time…

Daily Ramblings – Wisdom Wednesday – Betty White

It’s your outlook on life that counts. If you take yourself lightly and don’t take yourself too seriously, pretty soon you can find the humor in our everyday lives. And sometimes it can be a lifesaver.

Betty White

Don’t try to be young. Just open your mind. Stay interested in stuff. There are so many things I won’t live long enough to find out about, but I’m still curious about them. You know people who are already saying, ‘I’m going to be 30 – oh, what am I going to do?’ Well, use that decade! Use them all!

Betty White

I just make it my business to get along with people so I can have fun. It’s that simple.

Betty White

I’m not what you might call sexy, but I’m romantic. Let’s put it that way.

Betty White

Animals don’t lie. Animals don’t criticize. If animals have moody days, they handle them better than humans do.

Betty White

Betty White passed this year. I loved her on the show “The Golden Girls”. Here’s a Wikipedia link to learn more about this American Icon: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betty_White

Have a great Wednesday, folks!

Until next time…

Women’s History Month is coming to an end and I have wanted to capture a unique collection of women this month that are not as mainstream as the typical women you see depicted during this month. Today, I’m presenting the “Mother of American Modernism”, Georgia O’Keeffe. I hope you enjoy this little video. It is quite informative. I got the idea from watching Breaking Bad, where the character Jeffrey Pinkman and his girlfriend visit a museum in New Mexico highlighting Georgia O’Keeffe’s work. Enjoy!

I hope you have a great Tuesday, folks.

Until next time…

Daily Ramblings – Motivation Monday – Rigid, Flexible, and Hybrid Scheduling

Daily Tasks, Flexible, Hybrid, motivation, Rigid, Schedule, Scheduling, Self-Awareness, To-do Lists

Well, it’s about 1:45 am and I am getting this post done early as I’ve changed my schedule to take advantage of the peace and quiet. One of my fellow bloggers mentioned she could do the same as I do, but has an “early bird” husband, so she has to keep a different schedule. I get that. I’m lucky to be retired as young as I did, and have a little more freedom than most.

What is the topic for today? Schedules. Some folks are very rigid in their schedule, while others are more flexible. I tend to be on the flexible side. I list out my tasks daily (recurring on Google Calendar) and knock them out. Sometimes, I do my writing early in the morning like today. Other times, I don’t begin my work until I get up around 2 or 3 pm (sometimes earlier). It literally depends on how well I sleep or what’s going on. As most of you know I retired early to help out my folks. My Dad suffers from Dementia, and needs someone around him all the time. If my Mom has an errand to run, I need to get up. Sometimes, earlier than I like, but it must be done. So, I get up, get some coffee, and hang out with Dad while he sleeps in his chair (most of the time). When Mom gets back, I take a nap. Subsequently, my flexible schedule of doing things everyday is just that–flexible. I get all of my stuff done, but not at a specific time each day.

I’m not locked into any type of writing schedule, learning schedule, or exercise schedule. I do my daily meditation at a fixed time (5 PM daily), but that is flexible too, particularly if something comes up, like an appointment, going out to dinner, or what have you. I do, however, get all of the things I have slotted for the day completed.

You may not be wired that way. Some of my writing friends, for example, have to write at a given time each day for a set amount of time. It’s their process. I have no problem with the rigid schedule or my flex schedule. The key to this is to identify if you are rigid, flexible, or a hybrid. Hybrids will be flexible sometimes, and rigid at other times. Once you identify which one of these categories you are most aligned with, you can plan out your days, tasks, and schedules as you see fit. For those hybrids out there, you may have periods of a few weeks or months where you have to have a rigid schedule, and then get the nudge to be more flexible. Self awareness is the trick here.

So pay attention to what’s going on internally. What is easiest to achieve? Are you resisting your schedule and missing start and end times, or are you missing some of your tasks because your schedule is too loose? Only you know the answer to those questions. Either way, follow your gut. You’re in charge of your schedule outside of work. What works? When you find that–stick to it. You’ll get more done, and you won’t feel hemmed in by your calendar and to-do list. Who wouldn’t be motivated by a schedule that aligns with the way they are?

Well, folks, have a great Monday!

Until next time…

Daily Ramblings – Hobbies, Games, and Movies – CODM, Last Call, and Breaking Bad

Breaking Bad, CODM, Jesse Pinkman, Mobile gaming, Remo Williams, Season 2, The Destroyer Series, Video Games, Walter White

Well, here we are again, folks. Season 2 of CODM is almost over (8 days left). I can’t wait for the next season and what will happen! I’ve got diamond camo on a few more weapons. I’m still working on the Arctic Sniper Rifle, started with the ECHO auto shotgun, the swordfish assault rifle, the QXR submachine gun, S36 Light Machine Gun, Kilo Bolt Action Tactical Rifle, and the FHJ-18 Launcher. I rotate loadouts every time I knock down 5 games of 10 kills for each weapon. The launcher is the exception, because it is dependent on what is called UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) that I have to shoot down. I’m around 60 and need 100 to get the launcher to diamond.

For those of you who are playing CODM, my tip is this. Play frontline for most of your weapons, but hardpoint for the more difficult weapons to get 10 kills with. These for me were pistols and shotguns. The reason hardpoint is a great game to play is that it typically lasts longer than other games like frontline and team deathmatch. Time is critical when you are grinding camouflages for your weapons, because some of these weapons are really hard to get 10 kills with. Obviously, this is dependent on the lobby you are playing against, but the extra time gives you some leeway, particularly for weapons like the crossbow, little shotty, and the J358 pistol.

Now onto movies. My sister are on season 3 of Breaking Bad. I won’t give any spoilers for those of you who might be interested in watching the show, but this is one HUGE rollercoaster. Just when you think Walter White and Jesse Pinkman are in the clear, something else happens, and you are on the edge of your seat again. I’ll leave it at that.

The book Last Call is in the The Destroyer Series. This series has 146 books. I know that seems like a lot, but if I pushed it, I could read a book a day. They are really short reads, but the authors are terrific at moving stories along and their creativity is unbelievable. There has not been one story that even hinted at the same plot as another. They are funny, action-packed, and just my cup of tea. If any of you have read the Jack Reacher stories, this is the genre I would put the Destroyer series, although they are nothing like one another.

Well, that’s it for this week. If any of you are reading any great books, have a cool hobby you’d like to share (which you probably already do on your blog), or you have a good recommendation for a movie or series (Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV, or Amazon) send them my way here. I may take you up on your recommendations. If not, many of my readers may find your recommendations interesting and try one of them out. You never know.

Until next time…

With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts.

Eleanor Roosevelt

Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.

Eleanor Roosevelt

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.

A woman is like a tea bag – you can’t tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water.

Eleanor Roosevelt

Freedom makes a huge requirement of every human being. With freedom comes responsibility. For the person who is unwilling to grow up, the person who does not want to carry his own weight, this is a frightening prospect.

Daily Ramblings – Motivation Monday – Insomnia

Accepting, Adapting, change, creativity, health, Ingenuity, Insomnia

For those of you who follow my blog, you are probably wondering why my posts appear so late in the day. I am writing it at 6 PM my time in Michigan. It’s late in the day, because this is actually my morning. You see I’ve been experiencing insomnia for some time now. It started more than a year ago, where my sleep schedule literally flipped. So when you are sleeping in the wee hours of the morning, I am wide awake. I typically do not go to bed until 4 – 7 am. Then I sleep all day. Now, if I was still working this would not be a good solution, but since I am retired, I’ve made my peace with it and literally accept it for what it is.

Ailments like this can be debilitating, but if you have the ability to be flexible, the solution that presents itself can be quite liberating. For me, the peace and quiet in the house as everyone is sleeping, allows me to do some deep thinking, reading, and get a lot of writing done without too many interruptions. I’m pretty quiet, so I don’t keep anyone up. I am literally married to my laptop and iPad and get all my work done on these tools.

Since my sister works all day, she and I catch our shows in the evening.

For some insomnia would be a very demotivating issue. For me, it has had no impact. My gym is open 24 hours a day, so I can use it when everyone else is not there. COVID also forced me to develop a good home workout using exercise bands and other things like our stairs, so when the weather sucks, I can get in a good workout whenever I wish.

Change is always occurring. Every 7 to 10 years, your body replaces itself. Pay attention to these 7-year intervals. When your body changes, listen to it. Change your diet, accept the changes, and adapt to them. In many cases, there’s a silver lining out there waiting for you to discover.

Until next time…
