The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.

Jacques Yves Cousteau

We forget that the water cycle and the life cycle are one.

Jacques Yves Cousteau

The sea, the great unifier, is man’s only hope. Now, as never before, the old phrase has a literal meaning: we are all in the same boat.

Jacques Yves Cousteau

When one man, for whatever reason, has the opportunity to lead an extraordinary life, he has no right to keep it to himself.

Call of Duty, Excitement, Fun, Learning, Tips and Tricks, Video Games, Warzone, YouTube

All, it appears TED is now expecting a monthly membership to view its content. I tried to view a couple of recommended videos and use one I liked best to show this week, but I couldn’t view any of them. If anyone has viewed TED without paying, please send me what you did.

Going forward, I’ll be using YouTube videos instead, since they are still free. I think I am going to start offering up content in and around my favorite hobby – gaming. So, starting next week, look for some gaming content to begin appearing on my blog. I enjoy Call of Duty, but there are other genres and games I also enjoy. We’ll see how this goes.

Here is the first video. It contains some tips and tricks for playing Warzone. Warzone is Call of Duty’s Battle Royale. I hope you enjoy it.

Until next time…

Daily Ramblings – Motivation Monday – When you’re sick…

26 Monday Jul 2021

ear ache, Fever, head ache, self-care, Sick, Sleep, Sore Throat, under the weather, vitamins

I’ve been feeling a little out of it the last few days. I’ve had headaches, ear aches, sore throat, you name it. What do we do to stay motivated when we’re not feeling 100%? We motivate ourselves to do what we have to do, and then we dump the rest, so we can rest.

Sometimes, the only cure for sickness is sleep, vitamins, water, chicken soup, and sleep. Sleep is by far the best way to overcome sickness, because your body needs the sleep to mend itself and fight off whatever it has. Your body will also tell you when it’s losing and it’s time to see the doctor.

So, take care of yourself when you’re feeling worn out like I do. I’m drinking water, had my vitamins and breakfast, and yes, I am going to take a nap. It’s all you can do sometimes. Enjoy the nap. Embrace the nap. Another tidbit of home remedies is showers and baths. I love showers when I’m not feeling well. The body gets rid of a lot of waste and toxins through the skin, particularly when you’re not feeling well. Take that shower to get rid of all that. If needed, go right back to bed after you’re done.

I hope this helps you when you are sick. There was a saying we had in the Army, that was wise and funny. It goes likes this: “There’s a very little difference between hardcore and stupid.”–Unknown. What it means is that being tough and hard-charging is terrific, provided it is not idiotic. There are some who really took hardcore to heart and really overdid it. Being sick and trying to gut your way through it, is not only stupid, it is dangerous to yourself and your unit.

Take care of yourself. You’ll heal up quicker and get back to the things you need to get done.

Until next time…

A husband calls for his wife on his deathbed. He tells his wife that after he passes away he doesn’t want her to be alone. “Six months after I pass, I think it would be ok for you to marry Joe.”

“Joe?” his wife asks. “But I thought you hated Joe.”

“I do,” the man answers.

Daily Ramblings – Thankful Thursday – Streaming Content Producers

Appreciation, Call of Duty, Control, Grateful, Search and Destroy, Spartakus, Stonemountain64, Tacticalgramma, Team Deathmatch, Thankful, Warzone

Well, folks, I have been watching a lot of content producers in the gaming realm. One of my favorites is Stonemountain64. There is another I just started watching who calls himself Spartakus. Both are expert Call of Duty players and provide some entertainment, while passing along their tips and tricks.

Video gaming is a hobby of mine. There is so much to learn when playing these games, particularly Call of Duty. There are weapons to learn, different tactical, lethal, and field upgrades to learn. There are different controller setups to experiment with. There are even different game types. For example, I am predominantly a “team deathmatch” player. In this game, you have 6 players competing against 6 other players. The team who reaches the match’s score limit or finishes the game with a higher score when the time expires wins.

There are many games within Call of Duty multiplayer. There is control, hardpoint, combined arms games, blueprint games, search and destroy, and well, you get the idea. There are also all kinds of challenges to complete. Challenges with each character to unlock new skins. There are challenges to unlock with weapon reticles and camouflage. There are different challenges you can complete for the day. I play the game to complete challenges, and obviously improve my game play.

There is also other games. Zombies is one game, which is really fun. Then you have the Call of Duty league play, where you compete for ranking in specific ladders, after you play a five-game assessment period. Finally, you have Warzone, which is Call of Duty’s free battle royale game. Warzone is Call of Duty’s answer to games like Fortnite, PUBG, and Apex, among others. So, there is a lot to do, play, and have fun with in this one game.

I enjoy these content streamers because they all play in Warzone. I have dabbled in Warzone a bit, but have not dedicated a lot of time to it. I am going to change that starting in August. In August, I am going to get myself on a schedule of playing Zombies, different games in Call of Duty, Warzone, and even get involved with League play. I’m thinking I’ll schedule out a day for this or a day for that, type of schedule.

Anyway, if you are a gamer and you enjoy Call of Duty, take a look at a few of these content producers. Stonemountain64 is my favorite, but you can also watch Spartakus or Tacticalgramma. These streamers are all on Facebook, under the gaming tab. They are fun to watch. Stonemountain64 goes live everyday at 12 PM pacific, so for those of you in the Central or Eastern time zones, check him out. I have only been watching this guy’s stream for about a week or so, and it is really enjoyable. Youtube is another great place to find content. I follow a great many content producers there. One is Savage, who actually replays games that are sent to him, and provides a critique about what a player is doing right, and what a character is doing wrong. Great content.

So today, folks. I am grateful for those content producers that take the time to put together educational content for those of us who are trying to learn to be better players. Here’s to you! (clink, clink).

Have a great Thursday, folks!

Until next time…

Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you.

Frank Lloyd Wright

Form follows function – that has been misunderstood. Form and function should be one, joined in a spiritual union.

Frank Lloyd Wright

I believe in God, only I spell it Nature.

Frank Lloyd Wright

The mother art is architecture. Without an architecture of our own we have no soul of our own civilization.

Frank Lloyd Wright

Space is the breath of art.

Frank Lloyd Wright

Today, I dropped some quotes by Frank Lloyd Wright. If you have never heard of him, here’s the Wikipedia link to learn more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Lloyd_Wright

Have a great Wednesday, folks!

Daily Ramblings – Motivation Monday – I’m back!

Bodybuilding, Dad, family, God, Home, NIece, Wife

Well, folks, my nieces have headed back home to Virginia and Arizona respectively, and we are finally back on schedule. It was a great time! We played board games like Scrabble, SkipBo, and Boggle. Mom and the niece even gave Upwords a shot, although this game is deceivingly challenging, despite its ease of play.

The most important part of their trip was to visit Mom and Dad, particularly Dad, who has deteriorated quite a bit. The highlight was the two nieces watching a movie with Dad. Dad loves movies, but has given up watching them mostly, because he cannot understand them anymore. He enjoyed hanging out with the nieces though.

Some folks have a hard time with situations like this. Admittedly, I had a tough time of it, initially. Over time, however, I realized this is how it works. Our loved ones, our friends, everyone gets old. When we get old, there are certain things that happen, particularly with the brain. It just doesn’t work as well as it did when we were younger. I made my peace with Dad’s passing. I hope he stays with us longer, but when its time for Dad to leave–it’s time for Dad to leave.

For those of you who still have your parents around; enjoy them. I consider it a privilege to have gotten back home and enjoyed Dad before his decline. We got in a lot of tv time, movie time, and some good discussions. I will cherish them forever. Now, all Mom and I can do is keep him comfortable, and be ready when the day that Dad leaves.

If you haven’t noticed this before, watch your pets. They teach you a great deal. Both of the dogs we lost both slept most of the day, when they were getting ready to pass. You could see their paws moving as they slept, and hear a muffled bark. In my religious path, this is God’s way of preparing them for their next life. They get to see what they will be doing, where they will live, and the whole thing. I picture Goldie and Weezer, running in parks, totally healthy, with their new families. God is doing the same thing for Dad. He is preparing Dad for his next home.

I hope each of you are having a great summer. It is hot and muggy here, but still nice with blue skies. We had a little rain while the nieces were here, but they had a great time going out to eat with Mom, walking along the St. Clair river, which runs right next to our town, and even got to a Van Gogh exhibit in Detroit. Mom has been wanting to go, but didn’t have anyone to go with. Her friends were busy, and with our current situation, one of us has to be here at all times. So, one of the nieces did some research and got tickets for them to go. Mom had a great time.

My wife, just finished her third bodybuilding competition. She placed 2nd in one category and 5th in another. She was very proud of herself, and she busted her butt to get ready. We were all very proud of her. In the three years she has spent competing she has added 20 pounds of muscle! Anyway, I wanted to brag about her a bit, because the work she does in the gym and her diet are very impressive.

Well, that’s it for now. We’ll be back on schedule tomorrow.

Until next time…
