Elastic Habits by Stephen Guise
I just finished this book, and it’s awesome. Stephen takes habit formation to the next level in this book and I am excited to put his strategies to work. Luckily, I’ve already begun this process. Stephen’s book confirmed I was on the right track.
I can’t recommend this book enough. Get it. It’s only 7.99 on Amazon (Kindle version only). It is also a really easy read. I finished it in a day.
Until next time…
Dave
I’m reading it now. The jury is out!

It’s good. Have you read his other book, Mini Habits? This is a good primer to Elastic Habits.

I must admit I’ve skipped straight to this one. That may have been a mistake but seeing as this strategy is meant to be improving on the previous, I’ve cheated!

Yeah, I get that. Elastic habits still explains his basic premise. I just liked the Mini Habits book because he explains all of the psychological studies he read to support his arguments. As a practitioner, I can tell you this stuff works. It really does.

I’m hoping so. I’m very much in the slump. Lockdown has done nothing for any good habits.

Just think about two or three things you’d like to improve. Then set the simplest and easiest thing you could do every day to move that thing forward. Then figure out a bare minimum, reasonable effort, and heroic effort you could make against that task every day. That is Elastic Habits in a nutshell. The greatest thing is the minimum. His example of 1 pushup for exercise is something that will take a while to get used to. The key is that you do something everyday, even a minimal effort. The key to this philosophy is the building of momentum. It also demonstrates how much you can do over time, even by doing small actions.
