Well, folks. Here we are again.
Having recovered from the Thanksgiving exodus, I started my workout routine again. Boy, two weeks is a long time not to be working out, but it felt great to sleep in, relax, and get caught up in my reading.
Over the next month, I’ll be working on a basic routine to get the body used to the rigors of the gym again. Today, I started my return with a Leg and Abdominal Workout. Roughly 4 exercises for legs, 1 for calves, and 2 for abdominals, with a rep range of 10-14. I was lifting very light today but focused on form and the burn toward the end of each set.
I focused on working with light weights because I want to minimize the soreness I’ll experience tomorrow or the next day so I can concentrate on just getting the blood flowing again. After I’ve run through the first week, we’ll start cranking up the weight again to counter the remainder of the holiday season.
Here was my routine for today:
- Squats 5 x 14
- Leg Extensions 5 x 14
- Lying Leg Curls 5 x 14
- Leg Press 5 x 14
- Standing Calf Raise 5 x 14
- Abdominal Crunch 5 x 14
- Lying Leg lift 5 x 14
The routine was simple and sweet. Toward the end of the leg workout, I was burnt. It’s amazing how “weak” the mind gets after a short, two weeks. Anyway, I’m glad I hit it today and look forward to another session tomorrow.
I hope everyone is having a great Monday!!
