If you think this would work in your community, pass it along to your local government. This is a terrific idea and seems to be working for the city of Albuquerque, NM.

“Sadness flies away on the wings of time.” – Jean de La Fontaine
Most of us have experience with unfortunate events. We lose a loved one to disease or old age or a cherished pet whose time has come. Death is an inevitable end for a body that just won’t last forever.
The sadness we associate with loss is always a painful one, primarily because it is permanent. That person or pet will not be here in our lives anymore. Time is the only healer. We get a new pet, we bring our friends and living family members closer, and we just begin to accept our new situation.
If you’ve lost someone recently and are feeling the pain I’ve described above, I am truly sorry for your loss. Only time will heal those wounds.
Until next time…

“Unfoldment is a two-step process. First, knowing the way; second, walking it.” – Harold Klemp – The Language of Soul
Today’s quote is about integrity. Most of us know right from wrong. We also know what’s good for us and what isn’t. We all have an internal compass that points the way for us to act and to respect others.
Obviously, knowing the way is the easy part. Walking it is where the discipline comes. This is the part that challenges us. This is the part that has the most meaning.
Until next time…

Today’s Quote:
” Discipline is choosing between what you want now and what you want most.” – Abraham Lincoln
So true folks. Whether you are trying to lose weight, learn a new language, earn a promotion, or whatever, the process does take hard work and sacrifice. So many folks are fooled by “get-rich quick” schemes or “lose weight now” scams.
These are hard things to do because they take a certain amount of discipline to do them. These things also take time.
One of the bodybuilders I worked out with in the Army (name withheld for his privacy) said, “Bodybuilding is a way of life. It is not a race, but a marathon–one that will last your entire life.” This is what I’m talking about. You can’t achieve meaningful change over night. It takes time.
Until next time…

“Much of the stress that people feel doesn’t come from having too much to do. It comes from not finishing what they started.” – David Allen
If you have not read David Allen’s Book, Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity, I highly recommend it.
His book will open your eyes to how efficient you can become by merely capturing all of your next actions and learning how to put them into various silos that indicate what status a particular next action is in. For example, if you have to do something, but that something needs someone else to do something first, you can put that into a silo called “waiting for”. This is just one example of the many tricks in David Allen’s Getting Things Done (GTD) methodology.
I cannot recommend this book enough. Click on the title above and it will take you to Amazon.com to purchase. I’m not an affiliate or anything. I read this book annually and it is just terrific.
Well, that’s it for today folks.
Until next time…

“Every artist was first an amateur.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
This quote speaks to the hard work, dedication, persistence, and resilience it takes to be good at something, whether it’s poetry, writing, drawing, or even playing an instrument. It takes a lot of practice to get good at anything.
When you first start something be easy on yourself. Not everyone will be a Mark Twain, Ralph Waldo Emerson, or Stephen King. But you do you have your own unique voice and there will be people who are interested in hearing what you have to say. Start there!
Until next time…
